Chevron nail art

Sunday, 30 November 2014

Hello!  I've got some really easy nail art to show you today.  I've gone for a really simple look with some chevron tips.

I started with a red base, then added gold, and then a dark grey.  This is really easy and quick to do, the key is to pick colours that are opaque in one coat so that you don't need loads of coats on your tips.

Striping tape gradient

Friday, 28 November 2014

Wheeeee!  I love a striping tape gradient!  I'm ignoring the current weather/season and I've gone for some lovely bright colours with some white stripes running through.

I also mish-mashed up the order of the gradient to make it all look a bit more random as a pattern, and I mixed up the striping tape too.

Leopard print over a gradient

Monday, 24 November 2014

Hello!  I've got a leopard print with a bit of a twist for you today!

I decided to go with a gradient using some nice autumnal shades, and then added some leopard print over the top.  Instead of going for a full nail, I did some with just leopard at the base of my nail to mix it up a bit, which worked out quite nicely.

Grey gradient goodness

Saturday, 22 November 2014

Hello!  A bit of gradient goodness for you today!

I've gone with a combination of grey, pink and black, and split it out with a bit of white in the middle.  It's really handy to switch to completely different colours if you just stick a bit of white in between, and it always seems to blend in nicely that way.

Bright gradient

Thursday, 20 November 2014

Hello!  Who care's that the sun has gone away now?  Not me!  I'm keeping it nice and bright on my nails despite the season!

I absolutely love the blend of these pinks and yellows together.... and I've finished this off with some cute water decals.

NYK1 Secrets - Prep & Shine and Loose Glitter Set

Tuesday, 18 November 2014

Hello!  I've got a couple of products to show you today from NYK1Secrets.

I've got a lovely set of loose glitters (love the sparkle!) and their Prep and Shine product.

First off, I've had a bit of a play with the glitter....  This set of 12 different sparkly colours, which come in a handy plastic box to keep them neat in, are available here for £7.95.  Now, I don't often play around with loose glitter, but I think I'll be playing around a bit more with this in future!

So, here's a little design I've put together.  I started with a grey base (in hindsight it probably would have contrasted better with a black base) and then added some striping tape at odd angles on my nails.  I then used three different glitters and a makeup sponge to sponge over the glitter.  Once I was done, I ripped the tape off, and finished with top coat.  SUPER SPARKLE!

If you haven't got as much time - I've created a really quick and easy design here - so easy to add a quick bit of sparkle to your manicure.  I painted my nails, and then just before applying top coat, I piled a little bit of glitter near the base of my nails (on my actual finger) and then applied top coat, and just blew the glitter down my nail.  This gives a nice bit of subtle glitter sparkle.

Overall - this little set is totally fab - plus great with the party season fast approaching - super sparkle will be mine!

So the next product I've also tried out is their Prep and Shine Product.  This is available here for £5.95.  This is a bit of a beauty secret I'd not discovered yet!  This is NYK1 Secrets bestselling product and is always in the top 200-300 out of 300,000.00 Beauty Products and always in the top 5 in the Beauty and Polish Remover section on Amazon, which is pretty impressive.

Essentially this product is great for wiping over your nails prior to starting a manicure to remove all residue and grease and kill any germs.  It's obviously great for prepping nails when applying acrylics or gel nails, but also great for just preparing your nails before you start your manicure.  It's also great for cleaning brushes, and as a thinner too for any of your polishes that are starting to gloop.  This doesn't contain Acetone so perfectly safe to use without ruining your polishes or brushes - good times!

So I've been using this for a week or so and I have to say I'm really impressed!  It doesn't have any kind of horrible odour, and really does leave my nails clean and ready to go - and given the amount of times I change my polish, something like this is great for starting with a nice clean base.

I'd definitely recommend you head over to NYK1 Secrets and check out some of their products.
