Nailtiques Formula 2 Kit - Review

Friday, 20 June 2014

Hello all!  I've got something a bit different for you today.  A while ago I got hold of some Nailtiques Formula 2 Kit to try out and I thought I'd report back on my findings now that I've given it a good two months of testing.

So, whats the kit all about?  It's been specially formulated as a treatment for peeling, bitten, weak or thin nails.  Now, I wouldn't say I necessarily fall into those categories, as I am lucky that my nails are pretty strong, but they are occasionally prone to peeling, plus, with changing my polish so often, (and therefore using a lot of acetone on my nails and fingers), I do need to be especially careful to give them plenty of TLC to stay in good condition.

In the set, you get Formula 2- a protein nail treatment which strengthens nails and promotes their growth, Nailtiques Oil Therapy - a cuticle oil which cures brittle nails and cuticles as well as giving them a healthy glow. Can also be worn over coloured polish to help it set and avoid smudges and Nailtiques Cuticle and Skin Gel - smooths cuticles and skin, healing dry and broken areas. May also be used on elbows, knees and calloused areas of the feet.

So, my thoughts?  I've been using Formula 2 as a base coat the last few weeks and it's pretty nice, I'm quite impressed.  I also noticed it did work as a decent base to reduce the need of coats I needed of colour as it seemed to spread onto my nails much better.

As for the Nailtiques Oil Therapy and the Cuticle and Skin Gel.  LOVE both of these.  I'm a massive fan of anything that stops my cuticles drying and and getting all messy, ripped and sore and this definitely does the trick.  I've been applying both quite a lot and they've definitely made a difference.  I like to keep them in my handbag with me at all times so I can apply whenever I need to.  I try and make sure I put something on my cuticles at least twice a day, once you get into the habit it's easy to keep it as part of your routine.  I tend to apply during the day at work, and in the evening before I go to bed.

Now, I know it's difficult to show these products in action, but as a side note, I think these have definitely contribute to my nails being literally the longest they've been in, well, like forever.  I hadn't really realised how long they'd got until I went and checked at pictures from a few months ago.  Given that I've actually been having to do a lot more with my hands recently in terms of DIY/washing up (ergh, what right?) thanks to moving house and then carrying out some fairly hardcore restorations, it's safe to say my hands have had a battering so it's nothing short of a miracle my nails are intact.  LOOKIE.  I actually hadn't realised how much they've grown.  (I don't want to cut them either, I love them this long!!)

So, if you fancy getting your hands on some of this lovely stuff, you can buy it from Escentual.  Currently the kit is on sale for £9.95 (RRP £22), which given that I reckon you'd get months out of it, is a veritable bargain for potential nail loveliness.  Go forth and get lovely nails everyone!
