Happy Halloween!

Thursday, 31 October 2013

Gosh, I've been SO BUSY this year, it appears Hallowe'en is upon us and I haven't even posted any themed manicures.  Well, I've got a little one for you today that I've knocked together really quickly.  Firstly, I wanted to show you swatches of China Glaze - Graffiti Glitter, which was a polish sat knocking about in my untrieds pile that I thought has a perfect Hallowe'en blend.

This polish is in a clear base with loads of black and green glitter in it.  I layered two coats of Graffiti Glitter over black, which does mean it's tricky to see the black glitter in there, so I think you would get a better effect over a lighter colour (say a green, or a contrasting red for Christmassy look)

And then, I really quickly gave this manicure a Hallowe'en twist, with some zombie ghosts.  AROOOOOO!  Happy Hallowe'en everyone!

33 Day Challenge - Day 17 - Favourite Brand

Wednesday, 30 October 2013

Hello!  Today the theme for the 33 Day Challenge is "Artwork featuring your favourite brand".  This is a toughie for me as I don't think I have a favourite brand, as there are quite a few, I've probably got a top five (at least!).  Anyway, if forced to pick, I would probably pick good ol' Bazza of the M, as the polishes are great, really easy to get hold of in the UK, and there are so many different colours and effects available.

So, onto my manicure.  HOT DOGS!

Yes, this is a little bit silly, but there is a reason behind this manicure!  I'm sure I've mentioned before that I do love a good sausage.  They are my favourite!  Anyway, I went to a fancy dress party at the weekend for Hallowe'en and I decided to go dressed as a massive hot dog, so naturally I had to also theme my nails the same.  I used Caramel and Mocha from the new Matte Nail Paint collection to create my sausage and bun, and then I used the Limited Edition yellow to create the mustard, and red for a ketchup accent nail.  DONE!

So, firstly, let me tell you a bit about SpaRitual Polishes.

•    Vegan Nail lacquer – they use mica for their shimmers rather than guanine (fish scales)
•    5-free – free from DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin and Camphor
•    Bottles designed by Ferrari
•    Bottles made from recycled glass and are also recyclable with care
•    Caps made from a special type of rubber to allow ease of opening and perfect grip for best application results
•    72 permanent colours with between 4-6 seasonal collections released each year

So, Intellect.  This is quite sheer again, like Intuition, so I've layered this over one coat of dark blue polish.  This is two coats of Intellect.  It's fully of little shimmery pieces and really sparkly and eye catching.  Lovely, lovely.  I do like a nice blue!

33 Day Challenge - Day 16 - South America

Monday, 28 October 2013

Hello!  The theme for the 33 Day Challenge today is South America.  I've decided to go for a manicure loosely based on the colours/style of the Brazil flag.

I started with a base of Sinful Colors Rise and Shine (such a gorgeous rich green!), then added triangles to my tips using the Limited Edition Yellow from Barry M, then finished with a blue circle (it's gone a bit green, I probably should have put white underneath).  Then top coat and some diamantes to finish it all off.

China Glaze - Put A Bow On It

Sunday, 27 October 2013

Hello!  Has anyone else seen the new China Glaze Happy Holiglaze collection?  Exciting!  I picked up a few polishes from this collection recently and today I'm going to show you Put A Bow On It.

This is a really rich purple shade, and it's a perfect winter colour.  This is a glitter in a clear base, but it's rammed full of sparklies, as you can see from these swatches, this is only three coats for an opaque finish.  I really like this polish, the shade is really unusual, I've normally onle ever come across bright purple glitters, or fuschia pink glitters, and this is a really nice in-between shade.
