33 Day Challenge - Day 4 - Tribal

Monday, 30 September 2013

Hello!  Today is Day 4 of the 33 Day Challenge and the theme today is TRIBAL.  I was really excited about this challenge as I really love doing tribal style nail art!  I decided to go all out with a really colourful gradient as a base on all my nails then go for some zig zags and stripes all over.

I used my Barry M Nail Art Pens to create the designs, and they are just perfect for this kind of job as you can get really neat, fine patterns on your nails without loads of fuss, just doodling on your nails!  Great stuff.

KB Shimmer - What's Your Damage?

Sunday, 29 September 2013

Hello!  I've got another flipping fantastic KB Shimmer polish to show you today.  This is What's Your Damage?  This is a white base, filled with green and pink matte neon glitters, plus some black glitter too.

I put two coats of What's Your Damage? over a white base, to save on building up layers, and I love it.  It's a really unusual colour combination, and I am a massive fan of glitter in a white base, so this one is a win for me!

Oh my oh my!  I can't quite believe I've let the little beauty I've got to show you today just sit languishing for months without trying it out!  This is Kissy, by Sinful Colors.

This is a really shimmery blue/green/tuquoise shade and it's an ABSOLUTE STUNNER.  Oh my goodness, look at the duochrome too!  There's some subtle gold flecks going on as well.  Love, love, love.  This is three coats of Kissy.

33 Day Challenge - Day 3 - Tape Mani

Friday, 27 September 2013

It's Day 3 of the 33 Day Challenge and the theme today is "Tape Mani".  Now this is one of my favourite types of manicure, and I do loads of them!  So, today I've chucked in a little tutorial for you too.

I've been working with Salons Direct to come up with some nail art and tutorials using China Glaze nail polish and today I've used Highlight of My Summer, Too Yacht To Handle and Towel Boy Toy to create a gradient over some striping tape.

So for this manicure, you will need:

Start by painting your nails a white base colour.  You need to let this dry completely.

Then use striping tape to position onto your nails.  I've gone for a mixture of diagonal and straight patterns, but do whatever you feel you want here.  It's easier if you've pre-cut the striping tape so you can just then put the pieces onto your nails, rather than try to cut them as you go along.

Use a make up sponge and create a gradient pattern over your nails.  (If you need some tips here, I did a gradient tutorial a while ago).  I've gone for a mixture of directions just to mix it up a bit.

This should dry pretty quickly, but once you've finished sponging, leave it five-ten minutes, and then quickly rip off your striping tape.

Now, apply a top coat (be careful not to drag too hard over your nails, otherwise this will smudge your design).

Use cotton buds and nail polish remover to remove the polish that's on your fingers.

And finish with a final layer of top coat.  I've added a little flower onto one of my nails just to finish it off nicely.

And there you go, tape mani, done!
