Colour blocking, studs and some glitter

Tuesday, 30 April 2013

Hello! Today I've got a colour block style manicure for you today, that I've jazzed up with some glitter and studs.  For this I've used Barry M Limited Edition Gold, Collection Cosmetics Parma Violet, Sinful Colors Soul Mate and Sinful Colors Easy Going.

I used striping tape on some of my nails to do the designs and then I finished them up with some round and square studs from Born Pretty Store, and some little pieces of gold glitter.

More YRNails wraps...

Monday, 29 April 2013

Hello!  I have some more full nail wraps from YRNails to show you today.  I previously posted some other designs here, here and here.  Today I've got another four designs to show you.

These are really easy to apply, especially if you are used to using water decals, however there is a slight difference, in that you need to soak them in warmish water, and rather than gently rub the design off the backing paper, you need to place it on a dry kitchen towel, dab it dry, and then it slides off a lot easier.  If you just try and rub off between your fingers (as I usually do with decals) it can smudge the design.  There is a video explaining how to use these here.  Once you have applied them to your nails, let them dry on, and then file any overhang off the tips of your nails, apply basecoat, and you are good to go!

These wraps are lovely, and apologies in advance for my camera picking up every slight imperfection *mad face*, however rest assured that this is not noticeable to the eye in real life.

First up, this is Blue Army Camouflage.  I put this on over a nude basecoat, but it probably would have been better over a white base.  These are £1.50 a sheet.

Next up is Green Floral Orange.  This is £1.50 a sheet.  I love this!  So cute!

This is Green Swirly Flowers.  Again, £1.50 a sheet.  This has got a little flower patterm on it, which you can't see too well on these pictures, but it is cute and subtle.

Next we have Brown Army Camouflage (£1.50).  Probably not my favourite of the bunch, as I'm not too keen on the colours, but ideal if you are going to into combat.

This is Blue Floral (£1.50).  I love the blue colour and this is another really sweet pattern.

Finally, this is Dark Army Camouflage (£1.50).  Again, the colours aren't really my bag on this one, but the pattern is cool.

Sinful Colors Savage... and a polka dot explosion...

Sunday, 28 April 2013

Hello! I hope your weekend is treating you well.  Today I wanted to show you another polish from Sinful Colors.  This is Savage, which is from their matte collection.  This is a lovely unusual blue / turquoise shade.  I flipping love it!  It dries to a lovely matte finish.

Obviously, I can't really leave anything alone for long, so I decided to first off, make it into a half moon manicure (using Sinful Colors Snow Me White), and then I covered it in polka dots.  I did a mixture of large and small dots using a dotting tool, and then placed contrasting dots into the larger dots.

I then finished this with a matte top coat (Beauty UK Matte Top Coat) to keep the matte effect.

Reusing a manicure... 2True Shade 13

Saturday, 27 April 2013

Hello!  It's the weekend!  Hooray!  For today's post I wanted to show you how you can reuse a manicure and get those extra few days out of something (in particular if you've had a bit of tip wear).  I did a post recently reusing a couple of manicures, which you can see here.

So to start, here is a polish I picked up the other week that was sitting in my "please swatch me *puppy eyes*" box.  This is 2True Shade 13, which is a dark grey colour.  Miraculously it was not a shade I already owned, so I had to try it out.  I'm a big fan of my pale Kiko grey so I was interested to see how a darker shade might work.

I appreciate that this colour might not be everyone's bag, but I quite like it anyway.  I reckon it'd look lovely topped with a glitter, perhaps a pink, black and white one, like Pink Pantha by Lush Lacquer.

So, got yourself some tip wear?  Here's a solution!  I decided to jazz this up with some stripey tips.  First I painted a coat of Sinful Colors Snow Me White, and then I used Misa Hot People Like You (I love this neon pink) to paint another strip across my nails.

So, bored of your mani but don't want to start all over again?  I grabbed my Barry M Nail Art Pens and triangled it up.

So, just to show you that you can get some extra miles out of your manicure if you don't feel like taking it all off and starting again.  Obviously there are tons of different colour combinations you can do and different designs, so I hope this is helpful!
