I've been working with Salons Direct to come up with some nail art and tutorials using China Glaze nail polish and today I've used Highlight of My Summer, Too Yacht To Handle, Towel Boy Toy, Concrete Catwalk and Liquid Leather to create this gradient-ish Chevron look. It's very similar to a fishtail manicure.
So for this manicure, you will need:
- White polish
- Colours for your gradient (I've used Highlight of My Summer, Too Yacht To Handle, Towel Boy Toy, Concrete Catwalk and Liquid Leather)
- Cotton buds and nail polish remover (for tidy up)
- Top coat
Paint a diagonal line in one direction from the base of your nail using your lightest colour. it's best to do this in colour order from light to dark, as then you aren't trying to get lighter colours to show up over dark colours, which could result in a gloopy mess.
Then, a diagonal line opposite this using the same colour.
Take your second colour, and paint another diagonal line across your nail, slightly lower down from where you put your first line on the same side (so, basically, leave a small gap of colour there).
Repeat this again with the same colour on the other side. Don't worry too much about how it looks at the moment, as it will start to take shape pretty soon!
Take your third colour and paint a stripe on each side.
Keep repeating this, using a darker colour each time, until you have covered your nails.
Unfortunately my camera hasn't picked up the difference between the grey and the black polish which was more pronounced in real life!
Once you've finished. Let this dry thoroughly and then apply top coat.
Easy chevron pattern, done!
