Striping Tape Nail Art Tutorial

Thursday, 1 August 2013

Hello!  I am very excited to show you the last of three posts for SpaRitual Nail Polish.  I have teamed up with Em's Little Corner; Lucy's Stash and Kerruticles to show you two lovely polishes, and today we are all going to show you some nail art we've done with these polishes.

I decided to go down the good old trusted route of a striping tape gradient for my choice of nail art.

So I've also done you a tutorial, so you can see all the steps that went into making this manicure, for which you will need:
  • White base
  • Striping tape
  • Two polishes (I've used SpaRituals Delight and Last Tango)
  • Make up sponge (dampened)
  • Scrap paper
  • Top coat
  • Cotton buds
  • Nail polish remover
  • Diamantes
First off, start with a white base and let this dry completely.

Next, get your striping tape (I find it hand to pre-cut loads of strips of tape and have them ready to use).  Position the striping tape in a pattern on your nails.  I've done a fairly complicated pattern, but you can do whatever you like really.  Do make note of the order you put them on in though, as you want to take it off eventually in reverse order.

Get your dampened make up sponge, paint on the polish in whichever pattern you fancy, sponge once onto the scrap paper to blot, and then onto your nails.  I've done some stripy, some at different angles to mix it up a bit.

Let this dry for a couple of minutes, and then quickly tear off the striping tape (remember to pull off the pieces you put on last, first so that you don't drag the design!)

Use a cotton bud and nail polish remover to tidy up the polish you've got on your skin, and your good to go.  I applied another top coat and added some diamantes to finish off the look.
