Seventeen Graffiti Effects - Monochrome & Bluetone - Swatches

Wednesday, 15 May 2013

Hello!  Yesterday I showed you swatches of the Maybelline Color Show Polka Dot Collection and today I have swatches of the new Graffiti Effect polishes from Boots own brand Seventeen.

There are two polishes in this collection:  Monochrome and Bluetone. They retail at £3.99 a bottle, so slightly more expensive than the Maybelline collection.

First up, we have Monochrome.  This is very similar to Chalk Dust, (keep scrolling, there's a comparison!), however the main difference is that Monochrome has bar glitter in the polish also, making it much more of a close dupe to Lynderella Connect the Dots, which I believe is pretty much impossible to get hold of, and costs about a bisquillion pounds.  So, if that's something you've been lusting after, I think this polish is going to be a winner for you.  This is one coat of Monochrome.

Next, we have Bluetone.  This is a dark blue jelly base with silver and black glitter in all kinds of different shapes, so this is a lot more sparkly, and quite obviously a completely different polish to those in the Maybelline collection.  I put a base colour underneath this polish of 2True Shade 1.  Again, I'm not a massive fan of jelly polish / having visible nail line on show as my nails are so stained it never looks nice, so I can't tell you how many coats this would require to be opaque(ish) on your nails, but this is two coats of Bluetone as a topper, and as you can see it's jam packed with glitter and looks pretty cool.

So, as I mentioned previously, I was interested to see a comparison between Chalk Dust, and Monochrome, so firstly, I painted my nails a rainbow of colours as I did yesterday and applied one top coat of Monochrome.

And here's your comparison.  Similar, but not the actual same (!! My justification for every spend!).  I would say the Maybelline is slightly more glitter packed, but the Seventeen polish has lots more variety in terms of glitter shapes/sizes.

So, what do you think?  I would say if you already have Chalk Dust, you probably don't need this polish...  I'm looking forward to see if Seventeen bring out some more colours in this range also.  Bluetone in a clear base would be pretty awesome too.

  2. These look so good! Was the Seventeen polish easy to remove, or was it just like removing glitter polish?
