Nail art with w7 Suede Effects

Sunday, 24 March 2013

A few days ago I showed you the W7 Suede Effects nail polishes.  As always, I thought, I must try and do some nail art with them!  Also, I was really interested in seeing what they would look like with a glossy top coat.  So I've got a couple of ideas to show you today.  I used all five of the polishes I have in these manicures, Mauve Suede, Aqua Suede, Pink Suede Golden Suede and Silver Suede.  I have now also been informed that there is a Black Suede too (it wasn't there when I originally ordered these polishes *mad face*) and I am fighting the urge to get that too.  I will probably fail!

So first off, FLOWERS!  I started with a base colour of Aqua Suede, mainly because it is my favourite out of the bunch, and I then used a dotting tool to create some flowers and dots using the other colours.  One thing I would say is that because this polish dries SUPER FAST, you do need to be quick with your dotting otherwise it will start going lumpy / gloopy.  I think this looks pretty nice though.

I then top coated with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri.  I do really love the matte finish, but I think this polish definitely works with a glossy top coat too.  The gloss seems to bring the flecks / shimmer in the polsih out more.

Next up, I also tried out a less complicated dotting pattern, just stripes of small and large dots, using all of the colours.

I then top coated this also.  Again, I think it looks cool both ways really.  It turns the polish into a more metallic finish with the top coat.

So, what do you think?  Matte or Glossy?

  2. These are so pretty, especially the flowers. I like both with and without the topcoat (the topcoat makes the colours pop a bit more, I think) but probably prefer them matt, just because it's nice to see something non-glossy for a change.

Also (maybe it's just me) I like the way the suede effect polishes feel without topcoat :D

    1. Me too! :))

I'd normally plump for glossy but I just love the suede effect, it weirdly works!

  4. Gorgeous nail arts! I love how well the colours match each other! Don't think I can decide between matte and gloss finish, love them all the same :)

  5. Have to admit I'm a glossy girl over matte every time-I just love the look of shiny shiny nails! They do look awesome both ways though!
