Miss Sporty Metal Flip Collection - Swatches

Friday, 22 March 2013

I've got some more lovely, budget, duochrome polishes to show you today.  This is the Metal Flip collection from Miss Sporty, which you can get hold of in Superdrug.  These polishes are £1.99 each, but quite often on three for two, so I took advantage!

I completely LOVED the Rimmel Metal Rush polishes I showed you the other day, so I was interested to see how these faired against them.
First up is Aurora Borealis which is blue / green / purple duochrome.  This needed three coats to go opaque, and I think this one might benefit from being layered over another colour, rather than on its own.

The polish shifts between a silvery pale green, to a purple and blue tone.  Very pretty.

Now, this polish (in the bottle) looked like it was going to be very similar to Rimmel Metal Rush Royale Blue, but on application it was quite a bit lighter (and less of the wow factor, I've been spoiled!) however, just for comparison, this is Aurora Borealis compared with both Royale Blue and Pearly Queen by Rimmel.  It's kind of right in between the two I think!

Next up is Fiery Blaze.  Oh Em Actual Gee.  I freaking love this polish!  This is a dark gold that shifts between purples and greens.  Beautiful.

This is two coats of Fiery Blaze.  This is definitely my favourite out of the bunch; the colour shifting is beautiful.

The third of the bunch is Beetle Wings.  This is a pale gold polish that shifts between pink and green tones, very pretty.

This is two coats of Beetle Wings.  The duochrome is not as dramatic as Fiery Blaze, but it's still pretty.  Again, I think this would be nice layered over a darker colour.

Also, again, I did a comparison with Gold Save The Queen from Rimmel, as I thought they were pretty similar.  I think Beetle Wings is slightly paler and has a lot more green tones to it, but there isn't that much in it.

So, what do you think?  My favourite is Fiery Blaze, without a doubt, it's such a beautiful polish.

  3. Ooooo. I also love Fiery Blaze, the colour changes are so strong and vivid. I didn't like the look of Beetle Wings in the bottle, but it looks lovely on your nails, I shall have to get it!
