Born Pretty Store studs and sequins

Tuesday, 5 March 2013

Hello!  Todays I've got a bit of a sparkle explosion for you today!  I really wanted to get Lush Lacquer - It's Electric into a manicure and when a delivery from Born Pretty Store arrived I decided I needed to use some of my new goodies also.

So I painted my nails with a purple and khaki green combination which I think goes pretty well together.  The purple is a gorgeous shimmery colour from Misa called Frozen in Time, which I topped with It's Electric on a few nails.  The Khaki green is a polish I picked up from Asda for £1, I thought it was a bit of an unusual colour and I'm glad I grabbed it, it actually applies really well, so this is George 78 - Gnome.

So amongst the nail art bits and bobs I ordered from Born Pretty, I ordered a wheel of different shaped studs (some of which you will have seen in my textured manicure nail art on Sunday).  I thought the stars looked pretty cool, so I stuck one on a nail on each hand.

I also got a big pot of sparkly holographic glitter, I love this! It's ridiculously sparkly and will basically last me forever.  I applied a slower drying top coat to my nails and then used an orange stick to position the glitter onto my nails (this is a bit of a faff, I won't lie!) and then top coats again after this to smooth down the nail.

  1. I would never think of putting this colour combination together but they look great. It's almost a military looking manicure and is really effective!

  4. gorgeous. I love khaki green - I have a great Collection cosmetics one which looks great under my china glaze bronze crackle. simple but really effective. It also looks great with burgundy/dark red in my opinion.

I'm wearing a navy blue today (nails inc - the serpentine) and want to stay away from gold nail art - I have a ton of glitter at home - can you recommend a simple-ish design Claire?

So you have an idea of my nail art skills (no where near as good as yours) - please take a look at my blog

    1. I have that Collection Cosmetics one too Deanna! ;-) It's slightly darker than this but a lovely colour also, I do like earthy colours, Collection Cosmetics have some lovely reds/purples/greens.

Did you see my blog post last week? There's some simple ideas here...

Have you got a dotting tool? I'd have a go at some polka dots, and keep the glittery polish as an accent nail? Or if you've got loose glitter, have you tried doing a glittery gradient with it? I did this ages ago so the pictures are rubbish but you can see the idea anyway, that's really easy...
