A rainbow explosion of polka dots

Thursday, 7 March 2013

The manicure I've got to show you today was pretty labour intensive...  This involved THIRTY FIVE POLISHES.  (well, 37 if you include base coat and top coat).  Yep, I am definitely crazy.

I had been planning to do another fishscale type manicure for a while, and my original idea was to have a rainbow gradient effect on each nail, going from red to purple up the base of my nail, but I soon realised that this would involve having all thirty five bottles of polish open at the same time, and even I cannot face the thought of trying to do that.

So I decided to just go for a rainbow effect across my nails instead, picking a colour tone for each nail.  For each nail (red, yellow, green, blue and purple), I picked out 7 shades of polish ranging from light to dark.  Again, I was going to do a fishscale manicure, but I decided in the end to just dot randomly all over my nails rather than go for keeping to the neat fishscale pattern, as that would have taken forever.

Anyway, I'm pretty pleased with the results.  This did officially take three million hours to do though.
