Barry M Textured Nail Effects

Wednesday, 20 February 2013

Hello!  Yesterday I showed you Seventeen's (17) range of textured polishes, and today I have Barry M's new polishes to show you.  Firstly, I certainly think Barry M have applied a rocket up their bottoms the last couple of years, they are continually bringing out new exciting ranges of polishes, and keeping up with the high end brands, and this is fabulous for all of us in the UK, as it is so readily available and so well priced too.  So basically, Bazza M, I salute you.

This is a range of four colours, all in pastel shades.  Kingsland Road (Pink), Station Road (Yellow), Ridley Road (Mint Green), Atlantic Road (Blue).

Starting off with Ridley Road; this is a pale mint green, and actually a really nice colour.  I have to say, originally I was a bit "meh" about having a rough effect polish in a pastel shade, but I really liked this colour and it applied well.  This was opaque in two coats.

It is quite difficult to photograph the effect, as the polish is so pale, and it isn't odd or horrible to touch, it's just a bit textured, rather than like sandpaper.

Next up, Atlantic Street.  This wasn't opaque in two coats like Ridley Road, I had to apply three coats this time.  This is a nice shade as well, but I think the mint green edges it for my slightly.

Now we have the pink; Kingsland Road.  Now, I am a massive pink fan, so this was quite appealing!  After my previous thoughts that I wouldn't like this effect in pastel shades, I do really like it in this pink, it's kind of bubblegum/candyfloss like.  Cute!

And finally, this is Station Road.  I was quite excited about this polish as I also love yellow so much! It's such a happy sunshine colour.  This polish also appeared to have some shimmery/glittery pieces in it, whereas the rest of the polishes don't.  Unfortunately they don't really show up all that well when you apply the polish, which is a shame.  This took three coats as well.

So, overall, I quite liked these polishes, however I am still unsure about how much I will actually use or wear them.  I think I am going to give them another go and see how I can incorporate them into some nail art, so watch this space...

  1. I bought the yellow today! I love it. I only have it on one finger nail at the moment (the rest are Barry M Gelly prickly pear with the odd cherry blossom painted on. See what an influence you are :D

I might have to get the mint in this next

    1. Hehehe! As long as you don't send me the bill! I do like the mint, I was surprised as it's not normally a favourite colour of mine but it went on so well.

Melissa do you have a blog? as I can't seem to click through on your profile to see. Just if you did I wanted to take a nose :)

  2. I've got Kingsland Road (the pink) on at the moment! I thought exactly the same as you though, they're cool and awesome, but how much will I actually wear it/use it for nail art? Still had to have it though, especially with Superdrug doing 2 for £6! X

    1. Ah no! They should have been out today in Boots... However if it was a retail park one they are normally quite slow to get them as they aren't considered a main store for some reason.

  5. Claire I don't have a blog. I might start one in the summer when the students have done their exams but I don't have time to devote to it just now. Well I had a completely rubbish morning (ending in tears) so as I passed Boots I accidentally bought 3 more nail polishes and since I bought 2 yesterday that brings this weeks total to 5 and erm only 3 China Glaze in my Amazon basket and some Cheeky stamping plates. Hmmmm.

    1. Ah, well do let me know if you do so that I can follow you! I'm sorry you have had an awful morning, but I hope the nail polish therapy cheers you up. I don't want to count this weeks, six Lush Lacquers arrived for me yesterday too ;-/ lol!

  6. Even though I usually prefer the blue, the pink looks really nice here!

  7. These look great on you! I've got three of them, and I agree Barry M are really stepping up to the mark with their polishes recently. I tried one of the Nails Inc Concrete collection too - but the Barry M are much nicer, both in application and finished texture!

    1. I haven't tried the Nails Inc ones at all (I just can't justify the price on something I'm not sure I'll like!). Barry M for the win! :-)
