Barry M Gelly Hi Shine - Lychee, Papaya, Dragon & Greenberry

Thursday, 21 February 2013

Gosh, it's been a busy week!  Yesterday I showed you the new textured effect nail polishes from Barry M and today I have swatches of all the new Barry M Gelly nail polishes.  I feel like I've been waiting forever to get these polishes!  But the wait is worth it indeed!

Barry M brought out the first range of Gelly polishes last year, and I've picked up a few, but most of the polishes were colours I already had, so I didn't feel like I had to have them all, but once I had tried a couple of them, I really regretted waiting so long to buy them.  They apply beautifully, most of them are one-two coaters, and they dry really quickly with a beautiful shine.  All of these pictures are without top coat.

So four polishes have been added to the range; Lychee (a nude/beige), Papaya (pale orange), Dragon (shimmery pale pink) and Greenberry (bright minty green).

So, starting off with Papaya.  I was pleasantly surprised by this polish.  It's very neutral for me, but the colour was really nice, and I think it complimented my skin tone nicely.  I think this would be a fantastic base colour for some black/lacey nail art.  It was also surprisingly opaque; this was two coats.

Next up; Papaya.  This is a pale orangey polish, I really love this shade; I'm not normally a massive fan of orange polishes but I think this hits the note just right because it's not too bright.  Again, opaque in two coats.

This is Dragon.  It's a gorgeous shade of pink and has a slight shimmer to it also, this one did take three coats on my nails (but we are covering up some staining here, so I imagine two coats would be enough for those of non-manky-nail).

And finally; Greenberry.  Oh my actual gosh!  I flipping LOVE this colour!  SQUEE!  It's such an unusual shade of being a pale green, but also super bright at the same time.  This is definitely my favourite of the bunch, which surprised me, as I am usually swayed towards the pinks.  Gorgeous!

So what do you think?  Greenberry is the outstanding winner for me, but to be honest, they are all pretty freaking gorgeous in my eyes.

  1. As it happens the Lychee was one of this morning's purchases. I wanted a neutral to use as a base for trying some nail art. Looking at these I wish I'd gone for Greenberry but then I'm always drawn to the blues, greens and purples. There's always tomorrow ... ;-)
