Gradient checkerboard, pt 2 - the simpler version!

Monday, 14 January 2013

Right, so I don't know if you remember, but a few weeks ago I recreated Chalkboard Nails' gradient checkerboard.  I really loved this look but good god, it took forever!  So I decided to do a simpler version of this by just criss-crossing some striping tape at the tips of my nails and then sponging on some colour to see how it would turn out, and I really liked this.

The base colour is 17 Risky Red with OPI Gettin' Piggy With It layered over the top.  I then used thin striping tape and then dabbed on a black polish, then dabbed on Barry M Limited Edition Gold at the tips of my nails.  I then removed the striping tape, and voila!  Pretty cool I think, and did not take seventy bisquillion hours to do.

  2. So fabulous! If I were to do it I'd end up taking seventy bisquillion hours to get the tape in the right place! lol

    1. Thanks Vic! It is a bit of a faff to be fair but I find pre-cutting all the strips and lining them up around the lid of something (like the top of the nail polish remover or underside of a cup) makes it a bit quicker.
