Stamping - Lilac and Black

Thursday, 9 August 2012

I am still trying to get the hang of stamping, and I think I am making improvements.  I find half the problem is finding the right polish for stamping with, and it showing up nicely over the base colour.  I haven't got any of the Konad stamping polishes so I have been practising with what I already have, in colours I hope are pretty opaque after one coat.

I decided to have a go at stamping over the Lilac Kiko (330) with Kiko Black.  It turned out a lot better than previous attempts, but still not perfect!  Some nails came out really good, but some were a little bit smudged, or the pattern didn't fully transfer.  I just stamped what I could over my thumbs, as they are definitely too big for the plates, and I wasn't sure how I could get this pattern to match up.  I'm not really sure I like the colour combo, perhaps a gold or silver or turquoise would have been better, but generally I feel I am getting there (kind of!).

I think this was my best finger:

Kiko Lilac (330)

Oh, and I used Bundle Monster Plate 205 for this.

    1. Yes! I was surprised, I just thought I'd give it a try, all the other "dark" colours I've tried seem really rubbish for stamping (apart from denim). The Coral Kiko I stamped on the hello kitty manicure worked well too, so I am going to try it out with a few of them, as they do have good coverage off one coat.
