Laser gradient manicure

Following on from the tequilla sunrise type gradient I did the other day, I decided to have a go at a laser manicure, which I've noticed seems to be the thing everyone is doing at the moment.

For this you need striping tape, a base colour (very dry, I did mine the day before) and a black top coat (I used Kiko Black).  Firstly, put the tape in position on your nails.  They don't need to be all the same pattern.  I used 4 strips per nails, two vertically, and two horizontally.

Then I painted black over the top of this.

I then left it to dry for about 45 minutes.  You can whip it off straight away before the polsih has dried, but I have mixed results with that, plus with having all my nails covered in strips of tape, I suspected it wouldn't end well!  Once it was done, a couple of layers of top coat, and done:
